Guide
Dictate AI prompts on Android
You can speak a prompt into any Android text field, including chat apps for ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. OSSFlow pastes the cleaned wording. It does not send the prompt to those products, and it does not answer it.
The field has to be the prompt box
Open the assistant you already use and focus its input. Then use the bubble. OSSFlow does not know which assistant is on screen. It inserts text into the focused field the same way it inserts a WhatsApp message. The WhatsApp guide is the same gesture.
- Open the assistant and tap its prompt field so the keyboard is up.
- Tap the bubble. It turns red while it is listening.
- Speak, then tap the bubble again.
- The text is inserted into the field. Password fields are skipped. If an app will not accept the text, it is on the clipboard and in History. Tap a History row to copy it.
Cleanup does not run the prompt
The cleanup model is instructed to return only the text you meant to type. If you say "tell me a recipe for soup", the paste should be that sentence, not the recipe. You submit the prompt in the other app after you have read it.
Names of products and APIs belong in the personal dictionary so a later cleanup does not respell them. Custom instructions can ask for a dialect. They should not ask the cleanup model to answer the prompt. That fights the instruction to return only the text.
A note on Granola
Granola's Voice Typing docs say the Mac beta pastes your words and does not act on them. OSSFlow's cleanup rule is the Android equivalent, with a key you supply. Granola's feature is not on Android as of October 2026. The Granola comparison has the dates.
Questions
- Will OSSFlow answer the prompt?
- No. Transcription and cleanup produce the text to paste. The assistant you pasted into is what answers, after you send the prompt there.
- Which assistants does this work with?
- Any app that accepts pasted text in a focused field. OSSFlow does not integrate with a specific assistant account.
- Can I dictate a code prompt?
- Yes, as text. OSSFlow is not a code-aware editor. Put awkward identifiers in the dictionary. The developer guide covers issues, docs, and commit messages.
- Does the prompt stay on my phone?
- The transcript is in History on the phone. Audio and, if cleanup is on, the transcript also go to the providers you configured. They do not go to an OSSFlow server.
