Why is the mode called OpenAI if I use Groq?

Because Groq's transcription API is OpenAI-compatible. The label in OSSFlow is the request shape, not the company.

Where is the key stored?

On the phone, in Android encrypted storage when the device provides it, otherwise in app-private storage. It is not sent to an OSSFlow server. There is no OSSFlow server.

Set a Groq or OpenAI API key

OSSFlow does not sell a key. For Groq or OpenAI you create the key with that provider, choose OpenAI-compatible transcription in OSSFlow, and save the base URL, key, and model. The app is free, bring your own key.

Groq

Groq's speech-to-text docs describe an OpenAI-compatible transcription endpoint at https://api.groq.com/openai/v1/audio/transcriptions. The models listed there are whisper-large-v3-turbo and whisper-large-v3, both multilingual. OSSFlow posts to {base URL}/audio/transcriptions, so the base URL is https://api.groq.com/openai/v1 and the model is one of those two ids.

Create the key in your Groq account. This page does not copy Groq's prices or error rates. Read Groq's docs for those. OSSFlow does not call Groq's translation endpoint.

Create a Groq API key.
In OSSFlow, open Settings, then Transcription, and choose OpenAI.
Set Base URL to https://api.groq.com/openai/v1.
Paste the key.
Set Model to whisper-large-v3-turbo or whisper-large-v3.
Tap Save.

OpenAI

For OpenAI's own API, set Base URL to https://api.openai.com/v1. Leave Model blank to use whisper-1, or type the model id OpenAI expects. Create the key in your OpenAI account. OSSFlow only stores it on the phone.

Cleanup is separate

Transcription and cleanup are different calls. You can leave cleanup on the Grok chat model, or point cleanup at an OpenAI-compatible /chat/completions URL. A transcription key is not automatically a chat key unless that provider issued it for both.

The setup guide shows the Grok default, which needs no base URL change. Use this page only when you are leaving that default.
